West Africa

Endless summer experience in the 21st century

It’s no secret that West Africa has pumping surf, I mean it was featured in the very first Endless Summer video in 1966. Somehow, more than 60 years later some of the lineups there feel just as empty as they were in the 60’s.

Here’s a set at “Point Perfect”, somewhere in West Africa. The number of people who’ve surfed this wave can be counted on one hand.

Why we love it:

  • completely empty stretches of coastline

  • inclusive, welcoming locals

  • being a part of initiatives to increase access to literacy and healthcare for the local communities

What we deal with:

  • costal pollution

  • the full spectrum of tropical diseases and infections

  • onshore winds
