A new chapter
We’re stoked to share an update about the direction of Leland Surf Expeditions that’s been in the making for a while.
We have formally updated our company name and bylaws to better reflect what we actually do — and where we’re going next. While our roots are firmly grounded in surfing, our work has steadily expanded beyond any single sport or environment. Now we are working to broaden our focus to education, training, and services related to acute medical care, safety, and decision-making in challenging, resource-limited environments.
This includes:
Course programs and field training such as our WFA and WFR programs in Telemark
Development of educational materials such as our customized course for the lifeguards of Costa Ballena
Advisory roles for those looking to work in demanding environments such as our contributing role in the Geo-Medic course.
Work connected to expedition, extreme sports, and other high-risk or remote contexts, such as the surf-medic role in the Mentawais.
To align our structure with this mission, we have transitioned to a non-profit company model. This means that any surplus generated by our activities is reinvested directly into education, training, and mission-driven work — not distributed as profit.
Our updated name, Leland Expeditions AS, reflects this broader and more inclusive scope. It allows us to continue supporting a our original projects, partnerships, and educational initiatives, while also broadening our horizons to whatever opportunities should pop-up in conversation or land in our inboxes.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
